Submission Guidelines for Chung-Ang Saron

Article 1 [General Discipline] 1. Chung-Ang Saron publishes articles
related to historiography, such as the study of Korean, Eastern, and Western
history. Yet, writings of related studies can also be published, if necessary. 2. Persons wanting to contribute an article to Chung-Ang
Saron must submit a manuscript file that adheres to the submission
guidelines of the Institute for Historical Studies at Chung-Ang University. 3. In principle, the manuscript length should not
exceed 35,000 words. In case of review and book review, the length should not
exceed 12,000 words 4. The Institute can charge authors for submission.
If the article is supported by a research grant, the cost is ₩300,000; otherwise, the cost is ₩100,000. 5. The Institute charges all authors who submit to
this journal ₩60,000 for screening. The screening fee should be
paid upon submission of the manuscript. 6. All authors who contribute papers in Chung-Ang
Saron should submit a written consent on the copyright and digital
copyright transfer of the paper published in this journal. The Institute has
intellectual property rights to all writings in this journal. 7. According to the research ethics regulations, when the manuscript is
submitted, the results of the plagiarism checker should be attached.
Article 2 [Manuscript Format] 1. The manuscript should be written in the
following order: title, author’s name, table of contents, body, key words,
bibliography, and abstract. 2. If specific description for the article or
information about grants related to the article are needed, add an asterisk (*)
to the right of the title and provide a description or information in a
footnote. 3. Authors (include co-authors) should clearly state
their affiliation and position in the published paper. To clarify the author’s
affiliation and position, add an asterisk and write the details in a footnote.
In the case of multiple authors, the lead author is named first. If a minor is
included among the multiple authors, the final affiliation, position, grade,
and relationship with the author shall be indicated. 4. Section numbering Level 1: I II III Level 2: 1. 2. 3. Level 3: 1) 2) 3) Level 4: (1) (2) (3) Level 5: ① ② ③ Introduction and conclusion are regarded and
numbered as chapters. 5. In principle, numbers should be written in
Arabic numerals, but other numerals can be used if necessary. 6. When using Asian-era names, it follows after
Christian-era by marked in brackets ( ). 7. All table titles should be above and
descriptions below the table. 8. The Abstract shall be written in English and
related foreign languages (optional) for Korean papers and in English and
Korean for foreign language papers. 9. Other matters follow the custom of this journal.
Article 3 [Citation Format] 1. In principle, all quotations must be translated. 2. Quotations are marked in double quotation marks. 3. Quotations within quotations are enclosed in
single quotation marks. 4. Quotations of a single word or phrase are
enclosed in single quotation marks, and the quotation which emphasized or
modified by author, marked in bold letters. 5. Quotations of Paragraph are separated from the
body by spacing a line and sized down by 1 pt. The paragraph should be indented
5 spaces 6. Author’s comments on the quotation are written
in square brackets [ ], and original comments are marked with round brackets (
). 7. All quotations must be sourced with page
numbers. In the case of secondary citations, secondary sources must be
referenced. 8. Other matters follow the custom of this journal.
Article 4 [Footnote Format] 1. All annotations should be made as footnotes, and
a bibliography should be added at the end of the manuscript. 2. When quoting a compilation, “ed. (pl. eds.)”
should be added after the editor’s name. 3. The title of articles written by Eastern
language should be write in 「 」. And the title of books
written by Eastern language should be write in 『 』. 4. The title of articles written by Western
language should be write in “ ”. And the
title of books written by Western language should be write in Italics. 5. When quoting an author’s work more than once, if
it has been quoted consecutively, the reference should be replaced with ‘Ibid’.
If not, it should be replaced by ‘op. cit.’ 6. When quoting another work by the same author,
only the name of the author and title of the work are displayed. 7. the footnote format as follows: Article: Name of author, “Title of Article”, Title of Journal, Volume and Number,
Publisher, Issued Year, p.00(pp.00-00.) Book: Name of author or editor(ed.), “Title of
Article”, Title of Book, Publishing Year, p.00(pp.00-00.) 8. In the case of a translated work, the original
author and original title are written first, followed by the name of the
translator, translated title, and data of the translated work. 9. In the case of electronic data, the author,
“Title of Article”, Title of Book, Publishing Year, accessed date, and
the website address should be clarified. 10. Other matters follow the custom of this
journal.
Article 5 [Abstract and Key Word Format] 1. The abstract should be written in English. If
necessary, a second abstract written in another language can be added. 2. The abstract should not exceed two pages after
editing. 3. Key words are selected
from among the words representing the theme of the article, totaling
approximately five; however, exceptions can be made in special cases. 4. Key words should be
added at the end of the conclusion. If an abstract written in another language
has been added, additional key words in that language should be added.
Article 6 [Bibliography Format] 1. Only references and data used in the article
should be included. 2. The bibliography is listed after the key words,
and it should provide full information. 3. The bibliography should
be arranged in the order of 4. The bibliography is sorted alphabetically by
author name. In the case of non-western names, the indigenous rule for that
language is followed. 5. Other matters follow the custom of this journal.
Article 7 [Editing Format] Paper size: 150×220mm Page margins: Top/bottom: 19 pt; Left/right: 22.5
pt; Header/footer: 10 pt
Supplements 1. The
revised policy applies from July 2020. 2. Matters
not specified in this regulation are in accordance with custom. 3. The
revised policy applies from June 2021 with the publication of Chung-Ang
Saron no.53.
