Abstract

This paper attempts to analyze the development of the consumer protection movement centered on women's organizations and the consumer protection theory was raised at the government level in the 1960s. Chapter 1 describes the process by which the government first raised consumer protection discussions in the early 1960s. It deals with the fact that consumer protection theory was raised mainly in terms of improving the quality of domestic products and improving the distribution structure, and that a quality survey was conducted through the Korea Productivity Headquarters. Chapter 2 describes the movement to reject foreign products centered on women's organizations before and after the diplomatic relations between Korea and Japan, and that women's organizations led the consumer protection movement. Chapter 3 reveals the difference in positions between the government and women's organizations that emerged in the process of actively carrying out the consumer protection movement with the government's support in 1967. Chapter 4 attempts to show the Korean government's perspective on consumer protection through the enactment of the Consumer Protection Guidelines.
